The Benefits of Invisalign

There are many advantages to getting clear braces. Find out what they can offer you.

Who says getting a perfect smile is difficult? It certainly isn’t when you find a dentist that can offer an array of cosmetic, restorative and orthodontic dentistry, like our White Bear Lake, MN, family dentists, Dr. Scott Kron and Dr. Jason Ross, do. If you are ready to get a straighter smile with the help of Invisalign here are just some of the cool benefits of this orthodontic treatment that is geared toward teens and adults.

How does Invisalign work?

By now you’ve probably seen a commercial or two talking about this nearly invisible way to straighten teeth, but exactly how does it work? Instead of applying pressure to teeth through wires and brackets, Invisalign uses customized clear trays called aligners. These completely transparent trays are worn over the teeth just like mouthguards, and each pair puts pressure on specific teeth to gradually move them into a more ideal position.

The average Invisalign wearer will have between 20-30 aligners in their entire treatment plan. Each aligner is worn for about 2 weeks before they are replaced with the next set of aligners. Patients whose smiles require minimal corrections may need even fewer aligners to achieve the desired results.

How often will I visit my dentist?

In order to make sure that your treatment is going according to plan, you’ll need to come into our White Bear Lake, MN, office so that one of our dentists can monitor your progress. These checkups will occur about every six weeks.

When can I take off my aligners?

Invisalign aligners should be worn as much as possible every day in order to ensure that you see results in a timely manner; however, there are moments when you can and should take out your aligners. This will happen before eating and before brushing and flossing your teeth (and cleaning your aligners).

One of the benefits of being able to remove your aligners is that you don’t have to change your diet around to accommodate your braces and you don’t even have to change how you care for your teeth. Invisalign fits into your routine and your lifestyle, not the other way around.
