How We Take the Complicated out of Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry.

Many people kind of shrink away when they hear this phrase, as it sounds so…foreboding. For most, dentistry alone is reason enough to give pause, so what must restorative dentistry entail? It must be complicated, right?

Not necessarily.

Restorative dentistry is essentially done to repair the moth to a functional and esthetically pleasing state. This might require something as simple as placing a crown, or it might require something a little more involved, such as placing dental implants. However, whatever level of restorative dentistry your smile needs, we’ll make sure the process is as uncomplicated as possible.

At Lakeshore Family Dentistry, we believe in breaking things down for our patients, and in helping them understand just what is going on inside of their mouths and how it can best be fixed. Both Dr. Kron and I know that for a patient to want to peruse treatment—especially when it’s more involved—they need to be fully informed.

In order to help our patients reach a decision that is ultimately in their best interests, we follow a very specific protocol. We first talk to them and ask them what their goals and desires are for their smile. When we coax it out of them, they usually let us know what they want to do, and what’s really important to them. Once we know what they’re looking for, we review our findings with them and talk about how, if certain problems aren’t treated, they can get in the way of their ultimate hopes and dreams for their smile.

Once we discuss everything with the patient, we ask them again how they want to proceed, now that they have this information. Sometimes, the patient needs more time to think about everything. If this is the case, we just step back, let them know that we’re available for questions and that we’ll be there for them when they’re ready to proceed.

We know that restorative dentistry requires a lot of time and resources, so we do everything in our power to work with you, and make the whole process as comfortable for you and easy on your as possible.
