Celebrate Fishing Season with This Great Recipe
posted: May 21, 2014.
In celebration of the opening of fishing season, we have decided to dedicate a blog to fish—salmon in particular. Why salmon? Because it is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) – or, in laymen’s terms, a fat that helps to prevent gum disease.
Yes, if your diet is rich in fish, you are 30% less likely to get gum disease than your non-fishing eating counterparts. And as dentists AND fisherman, we love this!
That being said, celebrate the opening of fishing season with this delicious salmon recipe:
Ingredients
· 1/2 cup orange marmalade
· 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard $
· 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
· 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
· 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
· 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets $
· Cooking spray
Preparation
Preheat broiler.
Combine first 6 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring well. Place fish on a jelly-roll pan coated with cooking spray. Brush half of marmalade mixture over fish; broil 6 minutes. Brush fish with remaining marmalade mixture; broil for 2 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork or until desired degree of doneness.
The best part about this recipe: It only takes 8 minutes!
Note: *Tried this recipe, and it works great with other fishes as well!*
Happy Fishing Minnesota!
